Formosa Health Care Team guards for local residents’ health life

Since 2010, Formosa Plastics Group has provided yearly free health check-ups for residents living in Mailiao and Taihsi townships at Yunlin's Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. Accumulated to 2022, 46,264 residents had completed the health check-ups, accounting for 65% of two townships’ registered population. Given that the public is often at a loss regarding the abnormalities found in their health reports, Sandy Wang, the standing committee of FPG Management Center, instructed to establish "Formosa Health Care Team" with the spirit of striving for excellence to improve the residents' health.

Provide warm care and create local happiness

"Formosa Health Care Team" of elite talents contains professional nurses, dietitians, and fitness coaches, together with Yunlin Chang Gung Memorial Hospital and local communities’ experienced resources. Employing home visits, phone caring, and community centers’ group health education activities, we provide on-site services with individual health assessment and personalized health promotion to physically strengthen public health awareness and assist the residents in Mailiao and Taixi with sincere and warm care.

To popularize “Preventive Healthcare”, the team encourages people with hepatitis C, diabetes, and other chronic diseases should actively return to the hospital for treatment by hardworking home visits. We are committed to shortening the distance between people and health care for bettering their health. We should cultivate people that it is not difficult to maintain and improve their health with regular exercise, a healthy lifestyle, and an optimistic attitude. By doing so, we could actualize the home care model of "aging at home," "healthy aging" and "happy aging".

Local young generation care for local elders

Based on the idea of "a community health network", Formosa Health Care Team integrates Yunlin's talented young people to care for the aging population. We promote preventive care in Mailiao and Taihsi to encourage residents with Hepatitis C or diabetes should return to the hospital for treatment. Besides, we also provide the correct medical and health knowledge to implement the concept of "prevention is better than cure" in local communities. To make the people living in the vicinity around Formosa Plastics' Mailiao Park healthier, Formosa Health Care Team spares no effort to strive for reducing the prevalence rate of hepatitis C in local communities and improving the local residents’ health.

Shortly, Formosa Health Care Team hopes could help more Yunlin villagers maintain a healthy and happy life. Consequently, we would plan to extend the health care experiences in Mailiao and Taihsi two townships to the neighboring five townships. For benefiting the public, FPG will continue to optimize local health programs to become replicable models for the government.
