In the 1970s, the two founders of Formosa Plastics Group (FPG) noticed that Taiwan’s health care resources were insufficient. In 1973, they established the "Chang Gung Memorial Hospital" with locations in Taipei, Linkou, Keelung, Kaohsiung, Chiayi, Taoyuan, and Yunlin to provide services and consultations ranging from preventive care, acute and chronic care, traditional Chinese medicine, long-term care, to elderly health care. At the same time, in order to strengthen the concept of "prevention is better than cure," FPG arranged regular health check-up offers for employees at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital to maintain the health of its employees.
In addition, FPG established the "Chang Gung Clinic" in 2016 under the Chang Gung Health Care System, with particular emphasis on health management, cancer screening, metabolic syndrome screening, and health check-ups on physical conditions (body composition, physical fitness, ANS, sleep testing, etc.) and other types of health assessment. There is also a workplace evaluation system that helps minimize the impact of occupational injuries.
