Special Exhibition in Memory of Formosa Plastics Group Founders Kicks off on October 15th

2018 / 10 / 12

This year coincides with the tenth anniversary of founder Wang Yung-Ching's death, as well as the fourth anniversary of Wang Yung-Tsai's death. In order to commemorate their lifelong work and profound contributions to Taiwanese society, a "Special Exhibition in Memory of the Founders of Formosa Plastics Group" is put up on the second floor of the Tuzi Building and set to open on October 15th (Monday).

The special exhibition is set up in Ming Chi University of Technology. It is expected to be open from October 15th to November 30th. Through the exhibition of the two founders' life stories, business success, and contribution to society, it is hoped to let young people know more about their spirit with quotes from the founders and their life philosophies. Also, visitors can commemorate the founders through this exhibition, which encourages the younger generations to learn from the founders' determination to overcome all adversity and never give up. The event aims to gather positive energy and provide momentum for Taiwan to move forward.

The exhibition can be divided into 9 themes, including:
1 Introduction: introduction to the exhibition, photo wall, and life stories of the two founders. A series of photos show the two Wang brothers in different times and evoke visitors' memories of them.

2 Legendary years: Five relief sculptures based on FPG history: the timeline of "Starting from zero, turning sea into land, development of light industry, development of petrochemical company, and outlook on electronics industry" is used to tell the story of the two founders and FPG

3 Contribution to Society: this theme is about displaying the two founders' contributions to education, healthcare, and philanthropy.

4 Long-lasting Life Wisdom: In the time tunnel zone, 12 quotes from the two founders are displayed. Through the commemorative image of the sky lanterns, the interactive AR technology is used. Also, a writing board is provided for visitors to write down their thoughts and blessings, which will be instantly projected on the sky lantern animation.

5 Tradition and Future Outlook: this theme focuses on the business results of FPG in the past ten years and its future outlook and development plans. It also tells the business philosophy and management principles of the second-generation successors of FPG, including corporate governance, industrial management, occupational safety/environmental protection, and charitable work.

6 Remembrance: The photo zone is set up with the image of Taiwanese newspapers to show the more down-to-earth side to the two founders. There is a total of seven scenes related to the founder and the company in the interactive photo zone. After the visitors have a group photo taken group photo, they can print out the photo on the spot or send it to their e-mail.

7 Legend: A 13-minute short version of the "Legend of Our Time," a commemorative film, will run in a loop.

8 Short Stories with Deep Meanings: Twelve short stories of the two founders are displayed in the form of picture books and animations, so that children of all ages can easily read and appreciate the founders' life philosophies.

9 Collection: Related creative souvenirs designed based on the two founders' quotes are sold here, including calendars, postcards, masking tapes, puzzles, etc., so that the founders' life philosophies can be spread to people's daily lives. At the same time, cards made by children are displayed, which express their gratitude for the founders' donations to rebuild the school after the 1999 Jiji earthquake. Visitors can also write down their gratitude for the two founders in the card writing zone.

In addition to the above indoor exhibitions, there will also be 8 photo-taking locations on the campus of Ming Chi University of Technology on the day of the FPG Sports Day (November 10th). These spots are places where the founders had once visited. In addition to participating in the sports day and visiting the special exhibition, guests are invited to walk around the campus and look for the traces of the two founders.

At the same time, together with the event for commemorating Wang Yung-Ching and Wang Yung-Tsai, FPG especially made a "Legend of Our Time," a biographical documentary describing how the Wang brothers thrived from a poor farming family and built the FPG empire; the film also shows their spirit of "diligence, striving for excellence, sustainable management, and giving back to society" through establishing schools and hospitals, contributing to society, and engaging in charitable work. It is hoped that through this film, the public can gain a deeper understanding of the two founders. It will also bring positive energy to society and provide momentum for people to move forward to the future.
