FPG Wang Jhan-Yang Charitable Trust Fund cooperated with Yunlin Second Prison in 2006 to promote the "Rainbow Project" for inmates with drug addiction and AIDS by providing physical, psychological, and vocational training courses to help inmates get rid of drug addiction, learn a skill, and obtain professional certificates to increase their employability; at the same time, a "Family Day" was held to restore the inmates' relationships with their families. Yunlin Second Prison held the "Rainbow Project Results Presentation and Family Day" at 10 am on December 21st. Wang Jhan-Yang Fundation was represented by Chen Wen-Yang, Associate General Manager of the Management Unit of Formosa Plastics Corporation in Mailiao. The guests of the event first gave blessings to the 3 newlywed students and then watched them play ukulele and performed balloon modelling. In the end, the students had lunch with their families and exchanged thoughts and showed their gratitude, marking a perfect end to the event.
FPG has long assisted in prison education. Since 2006, Wang Jhan-Yang Fundation has successively cooperated with Yunlin Second Prison, Taipei Prison, and Kaohsiung Prison to implement the "Rainbow Project" for inmates with drug addiction and AIDS. Due to the excellent implementation results, Wang Jhan-Yang Fundation (founder of FPG and Trust: Wang Yung-Tsai) extended the project to drug offenders in 2012 and worked with Yunlin Second Prison and Kaohsiung Prison on launching the "Sunshine Project," which was extended Tainan Prison, Hualien Prison and Kaohsiung Women's Prison in 2017 to help more inmates reintegrate into society.
Yunlin Second Prison held the "Rainbow Project Results Presentation and Family Day" at 10 am on December 21st, 2018 (Friday). Formosa Plastics Corporation and Wang Jhan-Yang Fundation was represented by Chen Wen-Yang, Associate General Manager of the Management Unit of Formosa Plastics Corporation in Mailiao. Other guests also joined to watch the inmates' results presentation, including Cheng Hsin-Hung (Chief Prosecutor of Taiwan Yunlin District Prosecutors Office), Lin Hsien-Ming (Warden of Yunlin Prison), Tu Chin-Chu (Chair of Taiwan After-Care Association in Yunlin), Hsu Wen-Te (Director of R.O.C. Probation Association), Yang Wen-Jung (Director of Yunlin Honorary Probation Officers Association), and Wang Ming-Ho (Chair of Association for Victims Support in Yunlin).
Associate General Manager Chen Wen-Yang said in his speech: "FPG Wang Jhan-Yang Foundation has long worked with Yunlin Second Prison to promote the "Rainbow Project" to help inmates learn a skill, overcome their drug addiction, and reintegrate into their families and society after their released from prison. I hope that the students here will continue to study after the training, and don't let your families down. Also, try to be more appreciative of their hard work and show your gratitude for their support. I hope you can all return to your families soon." During the event, three students were newly married and they also received sincere blessings from the guests. Then the students presented their learning results, played ukulele, and performed balloon modelling. In the end, the students had lunch with their families and exchanged thoughts and showed their gratitude, marking a perfect end to the event.
