Formosa LOHAS Cup--Yilan Ecological Road Running kicks off

Formosa Plastics Group held the Formosa LOHAS Cup--Yilan Ecological Road Running at 6 am on December 2nd (Sunday) at Longtan Lake Scenic Area, Jiaoxi, Yilan. During the event, several guests attended, including Chen Chin-Te (Deputy Magistrate of Yilan County), Sandy Wang (Standing Member of FPG Executive Management Committee), Lin Chien-Nan (Chair of Formosa Plastics Corporation), Hung Fu-Yuan (Vice Chair of Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corporation), Tsou Ming-Jen (General Manager of Nan Ya Plastics), Tsao Ming-Tsung (General Manager of Formosa Petrochemical Corp.), Lin Shan-Chih (General Manager of General Management Office), and Hsu Chia-Pin (Chair of Hsu's Legend Tourism Factory). Also, more than 3,600 runners and local residents joined the event.

Deputy Magistrate Chen said in his speech: "We are all very grateful for FPG's contributions to the industrial development and job opportunities in Yilan over the years. In recent years, the Yilan county has continued to promote Jiaoxi Hot Springs and held "Yilan Forever Young Festival" and "Jiaoxi Hot Spring Festival." Also, we have expanded the construction of facilities around the Longtan Lake. This place has a lot of potential for tourism. FPG adheres to our policy on developing this scenic area by transforming a part of its factory in Yilan into a recreational park and hosting this road running event. By doing so, FPG helps promote our local tourism, which is very meaningful. We will continue to provide support and assistance for FPG."

Sandy Wang (Standing Member of FPG Executive Management Committee) said in her speech: "Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corporation has been here for more than 50 years. In the past, we were a textile factory that supported multiple families. Now, as time has gone by, we are adhering to the government's policy and gradually transform into the touristic and recreational 'Longtan Lake LOHAS Park', the original administrative building has also become 'Longtan Ecological Classroom' and focuses on promoting environmental education. This year, we collaborate with neighboring schools, communities, and tourism factories, and have already hosted 57 environmental education activities, including community education in neighboring schools, small trips in the communities and tourism factories, etc. We are grateful for the enormous support of the county government. "

FPG companies that participated in this event included the four major companies: Formosa Plastics Corporation, Nan Ya Plastics, Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corporation, and Formosa Petrochemical Corp. Also, units such as Asia Pacific Development and Formosa Biomedical were participants as well. Moreover, Jiaoxi Township Office, Longtan Community, local tourism factories, such as Hsu's Legend Factory Tour, Agrioz, Tan Yeast World, Yaokaoshanzhan Village, and Jiaoxi Hot Spring hotels also participated in this event. In particular, in the name of protecting Longtan Lake's diverse ecosystem, FPG promised to donate a part of the registration fees to the Longtan community for conserving the precious Distoechodon tumirostris.

The "Formosa LOHAS Cup--Yilan Ecological Road Running" was divided into two groups: 3 km and 15 km. The gifts included moisture wicking sports T-Shirt, thermos, sports towels, finishing medals, certificates and surprise super-value bags worth up to 10,000 dollars. The co-organizers also provided exclusive discounts for runners; runners could present the coupons and redemption vouchers in the brochures to the tourism factories and shops and enjoy discounts. There was also a lucky draw event: The Walden Hotel, Guan Xiang Century Hotel, Chuan Tang Spring Spa Hotel, and many others provided up to 100 kinds of gifts with a total value of more than 360,000 dollars.
