FPG Press Release

2023 / 12 / 22

Since June 2010, the Cross-Strait Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA) based on the 1992 Consensus and signed by Taiwan and China has contributed greatly to the economic development on both sides of the strait. However, it is regrettable that China is about to suspend the tariff reductions for some petroleum products listed in the ECFA, which will greatly affect several industries in Taiwan.

Exchanges and cooperation should be enhanced for cross-strait economic trade instead of being confrontational or disrupted. It is hoped that cross-strait relations can return to a path towards peace. The two governments should engage in dialogue and resolve the various problems in cross-strait economic and trade relations promptly through negotiations.
