Formosa Smart Energy Participates in the 2023 Energy Taiwan. Developing Sustainable Cities Through "One for All" High Perfor-mance Lithium Iron Batteries and Home Energy Storage.

Formosa Smart Energy Tech Corp. participated in the 2023 Energy Taiwan un-der the theme "Smart Energy, Smart Life" this year, and displayed the "One for All" high performance lithium iron battery and building block-type home energy storage system for the first time. It also announced that the construction progress of the battery cell plant in Changhua Coastal Industrial Park has surpassed 50%, and that it will produce the first domestic battery cell in July next year, symboliz-ing the complete localization of Taiwan's battery industry chain. This will create momentum for important developments in the field of new energy, such as energy storage systems and electric vehicles, and comprehensively develop smart life-styles and sustainable cities.

Chairperson Sandy Wang said that Formosa Smart Energy Tech Corp. invested over NT$10 billion to establish a lithium iron phosphate battery cell plant in Changhua Coastal Industrial Park, and that the production capacity of 2.1 GWh in phase I is the highest in Taiwan, which will be crucial to driving the develop-ment of Taiwan's battery industry chain. The construction of the battery cell plant in Changhua Coastal Industrial Park has been steadily carried out since it broke ground in April this year, unlike other parts of the world that has been im-pacted by inflation and labor shortage, which caused other projects to fall behind schedule. Progress of the main plant has formally surpassed 50%, in which the structure is already complete and key process equipment will soon be completed. The plant will begin battery cell production next July according to schedule, at which time it will set a milestone for Taiwan's new energy industry.

President Hui-Chi Liu said that the "One for All" high performance lithium iron battery developed by Formosa Smart Energy Tech Corp. will be displayed for the first time today, and it can be used in various equipment or fields using the same battery module, including electric vehicles, energy storage systems, and UPS. The diverse flexible applications will make it the most efficient and conven-ient to use, and the company has already received purchase orders for vehicle and commercial applications. The battery will be manufactured in the battery cell plant in Changhua Coastal Industrial Park to achieve the goal of localization.

Hui-Chi Liu pointed out that Formosa Smart Energy Tech Corp. is also launch-ing a building block-type home energy storage system that allows product capac-ity to be assembled based on individual needs, including a "lite version" with 6.8 kWh and "standard version" with 13.6 kWh. Households in Taiwan on average use approximately 11 kWh of electricity each day, and a home energy storage system ensures household appliances continue to operate normally when a pow-er outage occurs and daily life is not affected. Furthermore, the system stores electricity during off-peak hours and supplies electricity during peak hours, which will save up to NT$10,000 in electricity fees each year. The system has a built-in automatic power-off protection device and is made from fire-resistant metal materials. The battery has a cycle life of up to 3,600 times and is both safe and eco-friendly.

This is the first time Formosa Smart Energy Tech Corp. is participating in an in-ternational exhibition on green energy, and it will display various products, in-cluding domestically produced battery cell, solid-state batteries, and energy stor-age systems, as well as circulation technologies, such as microalgae carbon cap-ture and battery recycling. Formosa Smart Energy Tech Corp. has created a completely new energy ecosystem from manufacturing at the source, market ap-plications, to recycling at the end. This will not only reduce the dependency on conventional energy sources and create a sustainable Earth, but also further cre-ate new industries and economic development models.

The 2023 Energy Taiwan will be held from October 18 to 20. Formosa Smart Energy Tech Corp. and Nan Ya Photonics Inc. will jointly participate in the event and display smart applications and sustainable development of new energy in everyday life under four themes, namely home energy storage, energy storage systems, solar plus energy storage, and green energy recycling & reutilization.
