Supporting and Protecting Employees by Continuously Raising Salaries Amid an Economic Slump

Throughout our nearly 70-year history, FPG has always maintained a commitment to “sustainable operations” and “to keep striving for excellence.” This commitment is reflected not only in our efforts to perfect our corporate operations, but also in our pursuit to provide excellent care and support for our employees. In 2023, influenced by the global economic climate, the operations of FPG's main listed companies in the first half of 2023 continued to face significant challenges. Nevertheless, amid global economic sluggishness, FPG still insisted on a 2.5% salary increase to support employees and ease the pressures of rising inflation. This salary increase has been an uninterrupted benefit since the Asian financial crisis 14 years ago. Furthermore, FPG has also issued a bonus equivalent to half a month's salary for the Mid-Autumn Festival and Dragon Boat Festival. Taking good care of our tens of thousands of employees and their families has long been our commitment.

Providing Abundant Subsidies and Allowances to Support and Care for Employees

By offering childbirth allowances, childcare subsidies, and scholarships to share in the joy of welcoming new life, we aim to provide employees with economic support, ease their financial burdens, and, at the same time, ensure the prosperity of FPG's new generation. Additionally, in response to the government's vision of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, we have increased our subsidies for employees to purchase (switch to) new electric scooters and bear the related maintenance costs, making it easier for employees to obtain electric scooters and doing our part for environmental sustainability. Moreover, for employees whose years of service have reached multiples of five years, we issue an additional 24K commemorative gold coin, with the weight of the gold coin increasing along with their years of service. For example, if an employee starts working for FPG at the age of 25, he or she will receive eight gold coins when retiring from the company at 65. The total market value of gold coins, calculated based on the current gold price, is NT$280,000. These coins are a cherished collection for retired employees. Apart from continuing to fulfill our corporate social responsibility, FPG has also committed to creating a happy and warm workplace environment by taking concrete action to support and care for our employees. As a result, our employees cherish the working environment we have created.

Valuing Employees' Voices and Actively Responding to Their Needs

Apart from providing excellent employee salaries and benefits, FPG has always considered our employees to be our most valuable asset. We have spared no effort in building a quality, safe, and healthy working culture to provide our employees with an ideal working environment. To make it easier for employees to manage their time and ensure safe commuting, FPG allows employees to apply for special leaves in 30-minute increments. To keep Taipei employees from encountering traffic jams and inadequate resources in the vicinity after relocating the Taipei office to Neihu, FPG underwent multiple internal investigations before the relocation, and actively communicated with providers and the city government regarding response methods and measures, such as introducing flexible working hours, free shuttle buses, and contacting and scheduling diverse dining plans. After relocating, FPG immediately underwent rolling adjustments based on the actual circumstances, such as increasing the capacity of shuttle buses, contacting providers to increase bus shifts, negotiating with the city government to add crosswalks and adjusting the light signal timing, thereby successfully solving employees' commuting needs.

Protecting Employee Safety and Health, Becoming an Important Pillar of Support for Our Employees and Their Families

In terms of caring for employee safety and health, FPG implements numerous measures that go beyond what is required by law. These include providing employees with health checkups that are wider in scope and more frequent than legally required, medical care subsidies for employees and their family members seeking care at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, periodically providing employees with access to mental counseling professionals, and when required, check up on employees' mental health, granting up to six months of long-term medical leave at half pay (the Labor Standards Act only requires employers to pay for one month), and generous survivor’s pensions for the families of employees who have passed away due to an accident. By doing so, we deliver warmth and kindness to our employees and their families when facing unforeseen incidents.

Professional Education and Training, Encouraging Employee Work-Life Balance to Create a Happy Workplace

At the same time, FPG believes that long-term growth for the company can be achieved by improving career advancement opportunities for employees. As such, we provide our employees with sufficient training and growth, and support them in finding an ideal work-life balance, so that they can both perform at work and find time to take care of their families. Thus, through providing professional education and training, assisting in obtaining work-related certifications, and establishing diverse self-learning platforms, we not only increase employees’ professional skills, but also intangibly enhance their ability to deal with unexpected circumstances. Meanwhile, we have also provided support to over 100 social clubs, organized all kinds of vacation trips to both domestic and foreign destinations from time to time, and held various events and activities related to weight loss, giving up smoking, stress relief, and sporting competitions. These efforts have enriched the recreational lives of our employees, apart from activities intended to foster their professional growth.

This year, we are once again honored to be conferred the “Happy Enterprise” Award after receiving many votes from netizens. The award reflects the great recognition we have received for our comprehensive employee salary and benefits packages, as well as efforts to create employee work-life balance, foster a healthy working environment, and develop our employees' professional careers. It is an honor for us at FPG, and all of our employees, to have received this award. We will continue to strive for a happy working environment in the future.
