Raise in Salary for 15 Consecutive Years to Protect Employees against Inflation

Throughout our 70-year history, we hold our founders' principles of "Sustainable Operation" and "Strive for Excellence" to heart. Apart from enhancing our corporate operations and management, FPG has always striven to provide excellent care and support for our employees. In 2024, influenced by the decline of petrochemical market in the Asia region, and effect of the US-China geopolitical competition on businesses, the operations of FPG's main listed companies in the first half of 2024 continued to face significant challenges. Nevertheless, in July this year, FPG still insists on a 3% salary increase to support employees and ease the pressures of rising inflation. This salary increase has been an uninterrupted benefit since the Asian financial crisis 15 years ago. Furthermore, FPG has also issued a bonus equivalent to half a month's salary for the Mid-Autumn Festival and Dragon Boat Festival, benefiting tens of thousands of employees and their families financially.

Providing Abundant Subsidies and Allowances to Take Care of Employees substantively

In addition to maintaining the existing maternity subsidies, childcare subsidies, children's scholarships, subsidies for new (replacement of) electric motorcycles and related maintenance expenses, the amount of transportation subsidy is also increased this year. Charging piles will be gradually added in the companies' parking lots in response to the government's 2050 Net-Zero Emissions policy. All of which are part and parcel of our contribution to fostering a sustainable environment. In the meantime, for every five years of service, employees will be given a 24K commemorative gold coin, and the weight will gradually increase with seniority. In 2024, major listed companies within the group will successively be included in the High Compensation 100 Index, the Employment Creation 99 Index (EMP 99 Index), and the Corporate Governance 100 Index by the stock exchange as constituent stocks. Apart from continuing to fulfill our corporate social responsibility, FPG is also committed to creating a happy and warm workplace environment by taking concrete action to support and care for our employees. As a result, our employees cherish the working environment we have created.

Take Initiative to Provide New Benefits Every Year, Promptly Respond to Employee Needs

In addition to wages and benefits, FPG also attaches importance to employee needs. Therefore, taking initiative and responding promptly are the core principles for FPG in promoting various policies and guidelines. For example, we coordinated the relocation of the Taipei office to Neihu, and provided free shuttle buses. We also take initiative to proactively communicate with vendors and the city government in planning for short-distance capacity of public transportation. To facilitate employees' commuting arrangements, we give employees flexible working hours. We also sign exclusive contracts with major catering companies to provide employees with more dining options for lunch. This year, we also implemented a seven to 29-day flexible childcare leave without pay. During the childcare leave, employees get to enjoy financial support of 80% of their insured salary. We are committed to encouraging and assisting colleagues to balance family and work, so that we can create a friendly workplace environment.

Protecting Employee Safety and Health, Becoming an Important Pillar of Support for Our Employees and Their Families

In terms of caring for employee safety and health, FPG implements numerous measures that go beyond what is required by law. These include providing employees with health checkups that are wider in scope and more frequent than legally required, medical care subsidies for employees and their family members seeking care at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, periodically providing employees with access to mental counseling professionals, and when required, check up on employees' mental health, granting up to six months of long-term medical leave at half pay (the Labor Standards Act only requires employers to pay for one month), and generous survivor’s pensions for the families of employees who have passed away due to an accident. By doing so, we deliver warmth and kindness to our employees and their families when facing unforeseen incidents.

Professional Education and Training, Encouraging Employee Work-Life Balance to Create a Happy Workplace

At the same time, FPG believes that long-term growth for the company can be achieved by improving career advancement opportunities for employees. As such, we provide our employees with sufficient training and growth, and support them in finding an ideal work-life balance, so that they can both perform at work and find time to take care of their families. Thus, through providing professional education and training, assisting in obtaining work-related certifications, and establishing diverse self-learning platforms, we not only increase employees’ professional skills, but also intangibly enhance their ability to deal with unexpected circumstances. Meanwhile, we have also provided support to over 100 social clubs, organized all kinds of vacation trips to both domestic and foreign destinations from time to time, and held various events and activities related to weight loss, giving up smoking, stress relief, and sporting competitions. These efforts have enriched the recreational lives of our employees, apart from activities intended to foster their professional growth.

This year, we are once again honored to be conferred the “Happy Enterprise” Award after receiving many votes from netizens. The award reflects the great recognition we have received for our comprehensive employee salary and benefits packages, as well as efforts to create employee work-life balance, foster a healthy working environment, and develop our employees' professional careers. It is an honor for us at FPG, and all of our employees, to have received this award. We will continue to strive for a happy working environment in the future.
