Using science-based cultivation technology to help farmers produce excellent agricultural products
FPG commissioned Chaoyang University of Technology to implement the "Agricultural Production and Crop Quality Improvement and Farm Management Strategy Guidance" Project. This is the 11th year of the project, and the scope includes Mailiao, Taixi, Sihu, Dacheng, Lunbei, Baozhong, and Dongshi. All farmers in the area can contact the guidance team if they have any issues with cultivation.
Better agricultural guidance – Helping farmers obtain the certification for traceable agricultural products
After providing guidance, the quality and quantity of farmers' harvest both significantly improved, and 100% of agricultural products passed pesticide residue testing, helping to maintain the quality of local agricultural products.
Establishing local service locations to help farmers with cultivation issues
The "FPG Agriculture and Fisheries Consultation Center" established in Qiaotou Village, Mailiao Township, Yunlin County provides services to farmers. Team experts are stationed in the center to provide farmers with consultation and recommend solutions. When necessary, the experts will accompany farmers to their fields for diagnosis. Furthermore, the consultation center offers consultation courses for farmers to gain basic cultivation concepts, and has simple instruments for farmers to provide simple soil analysis and pesticide screening service.

Fisheries guidance
The fisheries guidance project aims to improve the fish farming technologies of Mailiao fishermen, and produce high quality aquatic products
The location of Mailiao and Taixi is known as where the water ends and the wind begins. The scorching sun and blowing sand on barren land, which has frequent natural disasters and floods. The relatively poor weather conditions poses a severe challenge to the aquaculture industry that lives at the mercy of the elements. FPG began collaborating with a domestic academic team in implementing the "Research Project to Enhance Aquacultural Technology and Increase the Added Value of Aquatic Product in Nearby Areas of Mailiao" in May 2009, and provided guidance to Mailiao Township, Taixi Township, Sihu Township, Kouhu Township, and Dacheng Township. Fish farmers in the area can engage in exchanges with the guidance team if they have any questions regarding aquaculture.
Aquatic Product Quality and Quantity Continued to Reach Goals After Improving Aquaculture Methods
To improve local aquaculture technology and drive the development of the aquaculture industry, we provided a series of aquacultural production and technical support, including "on-site services," "probiotics applications," "water quality and parasite pathology testing services," "aquaculture species water-borne disease testing and enhanced immune response," reducing drug use in the acquaculture process. We established and promoted "environment testing and aquatic product testing" and "traceable products" to ensure that fishermen produce safe and high quality aquatic products.
Periodically releasing fish fry to enrich marine resources
FPG built the foundation for the Sixth Naphtha Cracker via land reclamation along the coast of Mailiao Township, Yunlin County. To ensure the environmental quality and fishery resources of nearby sea areas during the construction and operation period, besides continuously monitoring the environment and ecology in the nearby sea area over a long period of time, we also release fish fry in sea areas near Mailiao Park based on the spirit of being eco-friendly, in order to enrich local fishery resources and increase the catch of local fishermen.
Starting in 2008, FPG commissioned Yunlin Fishermen's Association to implement the Ocean Restoration Fish Fry Release Project each year. As of the end of 2024, the total number of fish fry released reached 8,498,100. In the Ocean Oscars organized by the Council of Agriculture Fisheries Agency in 2014, FPG was selected as a role model for "ocean stock enhancement," showing that the effort and achievements of FPG in releasing fish fry has been recognized by the competent authority of fisheries, in hopes of facilitating the sustainable operation of fisheries and creating a vision for residents, so that the Sixth Naphtha Cracker can mutually prosper with the local community.
FPG specially hired a professor of marine education to give lectures on the conservation of fishery resources in elementary schools every year, in order to promote education on fishery resource conservation. The two courses on marine ecological conservation and fish fry release allow teachers and students to understand the characteristics of marine ecology. The planning and implementation process of the fish fry release project for ocean ecology and fishery resource conservation allow local residents to understand the efforts of FPG to become eco-friendly. We hope that the education will allow the concept of fishery resource conservation to be disseminated and promoted.
