As Chinese New Year draws near, every starts to look forward to family gatherings, but in some corners of society, many elderly people can only celebrate the holiday at the dining table by themselves, and cannot enjoy the joyful atmosphere of the holiday. As society continues to age, elderly people living alone not only need a meal, but even more importantly the care of other people, which is the most precious thing at the moment. This is also a way to fulfill corporate social responsibility.

In the light of this, the Long De Plant of Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corporation has provided care for elderly people living alone for 12 consecutive years. Under the lead of Chairperson Fu-Yuan Hung of Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corporation and the Charity Club of the Long De Plant, aside from the enthusiastic participation of employees, retirees of the company also showed their love by participating in care actions before Chinese New Year. They also donated 200 Chinese New Year's eve dinners in hopes of drawing public attention to the underprivileged and charity issues.

On the eve of Chinese New Year in 2022, Assistant Vice President Chin-Fu Huang of the Long De Plant of Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corporation and President Hung-Chi Chen of the Charity Club led volunteers to the Dongshan Charity Station of Huashan Social Welfare Foundation in the morning of January 17, making dumplings to celebrate the gathering. They used their creativity and put apple, peanuts, and candy into the ingot shaped dumpling to express their hopes for the new year. Yilan County Magistrate Zi-Miao Lin and Yilan County Social Affairs Department also participated in the event to support charity. As the hot ingot shaped dumplings were served, the dumplings warmed the hearts of participants as they wished each other peace, longevity, and happiness. They made wishes for the new year, and kept elderly people company during the early celebration.
