Oyster Rope Recycling and Reuse Presentation on 2021 Earth Day

2021 / 04 / 22

To well manage the perennial problems of marine debris, nylon rope and net which arise mostly from oyster farming and fishing, Chiayi County Government, Ocean Conservation Administration (OCA), OAC, and For-mosa Chemicals & Fibre Corporation have joined hands to develop a circu-lar system for recycling discarded oyster ropes. They also established chan-nels with private sectors to implement recycle technology for the sake of marine purification and to cut down the resource consumption. On April 22nd, which is the Earth Day, County Mayor Chang-Liang Weng, Huang, Hsiang-Wen (Minister of OAC), and Fu-Yuan Hong (Vice-Chairman of FCFC) jointly presented their green achievements on the circular economy for marine debris.

FCFC is one of the limited enterprises in the world that has succeeded in mass-producing recycled nylon using chemical dispersion. The nylon waste is restored back to the caprolactam through the processes of dissolution, dispersion, refinement, and refinement. And what is made has been certified by our affiliates.

FCFC integrates marine waste with brands to manufacture outdoors and sports apparels. This tech does turn the debris into resources, making it possible to extract gold from what was regarded as wastes.

FCFC has long devoted to green processes, cutting down the consumption of water, gas, and electricity during the production process. We integrate solar energy into the production of recycled nylon chips, creating a green product with low energy consumption from material to product.

Earth Day is a worldwide campaign for environment protection. Among multiple issues, the importance of marine waste does draw a lot attention from all countries. It is why we declare our resolutions to prevent the great ocean and our planet from pollution and harm on this meaningful day. Our commitment goes to work out the problems of oyster ropes waste is un-stoppable.

A charity video "The Circular Economy of Turning Marine Waste into Gold" shot by FCFC was presented in the campaign showing the picture of oyster farming in Chiayi county and what our environment is confronted due to the fishing waste. The video tells how the central government coop-erates with local and private sectors to implement a series of waste pro-cessing including acquisition, categorization, recycle and reproduction. We aim to collaborate with brands and manufacture value-added sports appar-els, taking the social responsibilities a decent enterprise should bear.

This tech which went onto mass production in April 2021 is another ma-terial for FCFC after fishing nets on the movements of marine debris re-duction. The future oyster rope and fishing net will be the source of our circular reproduction. We will also further devote to a more comprehensive recycle system with other private sectors to liberate our ocean from ropes and nets.
