Formosa Plastics Group (FPG), Formosa Plastics Corporation (FPC), Nan Ya Plastics Corporation, Formosa Chemicals & Fibre, and Formosa Petro-chemical Corporation have once again won the 2022 Happy Enterprise Gold Award, Manufacturing Sector category. This event was part of the third Happy Enterprise voting event organized by 1111 Job Bank. More than 1600 business participated and were judged in this event. 1111 Job Bank hosted the award ceremony today (November 11th) at Le Méridien Taipei. FPG Assistant Vice President Mr. Lin Chen-Tien, FPC Assistant Vice President Mr. Chien Chia-Hung, Nan Ya Plastics Corporation Vice President Mr. Peng Fu-Jung, Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corporation Vice President Mr. Chuang Hung-Ming, and Formosa Petrochemical Corpora-tion Assistant Vice President Mr. Hsu Wen-Hsien represented their compa-nies at the event to accept these awards. Representatives from the industry, the Executive Yuan, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of La-bor, and the Ministry of Science and Technology also attended the event.

Substantial Year-End Bonuses, Salary Adjustments, and Subsidies Warming the Hearts of Employees

Throughout our 60-year history, FPG has long maintained our commitment to sustainable operations and to keep striving for excellence. This is re-flected not only in efforts to perfect our corporate operations, but also in the care and concern that we show to our employees. In 2022, all of FPG’s main listed companies are in the High Compensation 100 Index, the Em-ployment Creation 99 Index (EMP 99 Index), and the Corporate Govern-ance 100 Index. Our companies have long been profitable, and throughout this period of time, we have taken good care of our employees. We give out year-end bonuses equal to 4.5 months of salary on average, and have con-tinuously increased employee salaries for 13 years in a row following the Asian financial crisis, helping our employees withstand the impact of infla-tion and the COVID-19 pandemic. This is our long-term commitment to our employees. Not only have we shared our success with tens of thou-sands of employees who have worked hard alongside us, we have also tak-en good care of them, together with their families.

This year, we further rolled out childbirth allowances, awarding new par-ents with gift bags and a cash childbirth subsidy to share their joy of wel-coming a new life. In order to lessen the financial burdens of raising a child, we have also provided childcare subsidies and scholarships to sup-port these children as they grow up. Meanwhile, to respond to the govern-ment’s policy vision on net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, we increase our subsidies for employees switching to or purchasing new electric scoot-ers, making it easier for employees to obtain electric scooters and doing our part for environmental sustainability. Apart from continuing to fulfill our corporate social responsibility, FPG has also committed to creating a happy and warm workplace environment by taking concrete action to support and care for our employees. As a result, our employees cherish the working en-vironment we have created.

Protecting Employee Safety and Health, Becoming an Important Pillar of Support for Our Employees and Their Families

Apart from providing some of the highest employee salaries and benefits in the industry, FPG has always considered our employees to be the most val-uable asset. We have spared no effort in building a quality, safe, and healthy working culture to provide our employees with an ideal working environment. Many of the Group’s companies and factories have repeated-ly won numerous awards, such as the National Occupational Safety and Health Award, the Badge of Accredited Healthy Workplace, and the Excel-lent Healthy Workplace Award, reflecting the attention that we have placed in this regard.

We are also devoted to protecting the physical and mental well-being of our employees, and have implemented numerous measures that go beyond what is required by law. These include providing employees with health checkups that are wider in scope and more frequent than legally required, paid holidays for employees to get independent health checkups, medical care subsidies for employees and their family members seeking care at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, providing employees access to mental counseling professionals who periodically, and when required, check up on employee mental health, providing employees with up to six months of long-term medical leave at half pay (the Labor Standards Act only requires employers to pay for one month), and providing families of employees who have passed away due to an accident with generous survivor’s pen-sions. By doing so, we provide our employees and their family members with warmth and care when they are in need of a helping hand due to un-foreseen incidents.

Professional Education and Training, Encouraging Employee Work-Life Balance to Create a Happy Workplace

At the same time, FPG believes that long-term growth for the company can be achieved by improving career advancement opportunities for employ-ees. As such, we provide our employees with sufficient training and growth, and support them in finding an ideal work-life balance, so that they can both perform at work and find time to take care of their families. Thus, comprehensive education and training, as well as a wide variety of resources for independent learning, are made available to our employees. We also support our employees in obtaining work-related certifications. Apart from improving their technical skills, these efforts also help strengthen our employees’ ability to deal with unexpected circumstances. Meanwhile, we have also provided support to over 100 social clubs, orga-nized all kinds of vacation trips to both domestic and foreign destinations from time to time, and held various events and activities related to weight-loss, giving up smoking, stress relief, and sporting competitions. These ef-forts have enriched the recreational lives of our employees, apart from ac-tivities intended to foster their professional growth.

This year, we are once again honored to be conferred the Happy Enterprise award after receiving many votes from netizens. The award reflects an ex-tensive recognition that we have received for our comprehensive employee salary and benefits packages, as well as efforts to create employee work-life balance, foster a healthy working environment, and develop our human re-sources.
