SBTi

To use more scientific methods and set carbon reduction goals that will help control global temperature rise within 2℃ and even 1.5℃. The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), World Resources Institute (WRI), and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) jointly launched the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

FPG aims to control temperature rise within 2℃ and reduce Scope 1+2 emissions by an average of 2.5% and Scope 3 emissions by an average of 2.5% each year within 5-15 years. FPG participated in the SBTi to show its determination to reduce carbon emissions, and 8 public companies in the group uploaded their commitment to participate in the SBT review to the SBTi.

Goal-setting method: Absolute reduction goals (within 5-15 years)

CDP

Extreme weather has gradually become the norm in recent years, such as record breaking high temperatures during the summer and floods caused by strong rainfall within a short period of time, and it has caused severe damages and financial impact on many enterprises around the world. Hence, investors worldwide and international society are highly concerned about the carbon reduction performance and the ability of companies to respond to climate change related risks.

To let international society understand our efforts and achievements in economic development and environmental protection, we began responding to the climate change and water security questionnaires of the CDP each year starting in 2017. We communicated the implementation of climate change issues with stakeholders and was willing to take their advice for making improvement, in order to achieve the goal of the Paris Agreement to control temperature rise within 2℃.

TCFD

Climate change is an important topic of concern around the world. The Financial Stability Board established the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) in 2015 to increase the transparency of information on climate change, and announced the TCFD Recommendations in 2017, providing companies with a standardized framework and content guidelines for disclosing information on their response to climate change.

Formosa Plastics Corporation, Nan Ya Plastics Corporation, Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corporation, Formosa Petrochemical Corporation, Nanya Technology Corporation, Nan Ya Printed Circuit Board Corporation, Formosa Sumco Technology Corporation, Formosa Taffeta Co., Ltd., and Formosa Advanced Technologies Co., Ltd. registered their support for the TFCD initiative in 2021, and individually published their TCFD Report in 2022, please see "Downloads" for details.
